Dallas Pike CG

Really narrow (REALLY NARROW) roads around camp ground to get to our site. Very pretty to walk in.

John Boyd, from my 700p

What he doesn't say is we had a misadventure with a tree branch! Then, almost got stuck in the mud! This is an awful campsite!!! Pretty locale, but not nice people in the office. We asked about circling the camp to get a better angle to come into our parking area and were told "no problem." After hitting the branch, a groundskeeper said we really should not have been on that road. Oh, well, too late now!! Not well maintained either. We will never go there again!!

We're on the road

We're in Rocky Top CG, Tennessee this morning with some fog. But the key word is RAIN!!! We haven't seen the sun in days! Hey, we're from SO CA! We're sunshine junkies.

Despite the weather, we have enjoyed our drive and the beautiful vistas. Everything is so green! (Something to do with the rain, I suppose.) Both Rocky Top CG and TN are on our return visit list. We got here late and leave early, but know we'd like to spend a few days.

On to WVA and John's in-laws for the Labor Day holiday!

Red Bay, Alabama

Well, here we are in Red Bluff, Alabama! It is hot, humid and off-on raining. Red Bluff's claim to fame, other than the factory for Tiffin Motorhomes, is being home to Tammy Wynnette! Have to admit there's not a whole lot here and had probably less when she lived here! No tourist attractions commerating her life here like in Tupelo for Elvis.

We're here to get a few items taken care of on the coach (done!) and we'll be heading down the road to Montgomery, AL in the morning. Then, onto Columbus, GA on Friday! Have found folks to be friendly all along the way. Life does move slower here in the South than in California!!

Barnes Crossing Campground, Tupelo

We stayed here for two nights after leaving the dealers. It was very rustic! Except for the trains! An easy pull-thru site for the newbies! Easing into the RV life!

It's HUGE

Four of the five of us as we get ready to move in! Not without its excitement!

Tiger did not like it when John tested the air horn; got loose and took off. He ran to the front of the building; was shagged back; saw John coming toward him and thought, "Oh, oh, I'm in trouble!" He ran until he landed in a pond up to his chest. He had no idea what had happened. No ponds in the desert! John finally caught him - only because of the pond!

These 3 dogs have led very sheltered lives! They're stressed learning the intricacies of RV living. The fenced front yard at home was the extent of their world. Elevators, hotels, strangers, an air horn, a pond -- all new and unexpected.

Arkansas

Coming through Arkansas on Friday morning.

Well, today is the start of our first big trip. Off to Sherman, MS to pick up the new RV and then onto visit friends and family along the East Coast to the Mid-West and winding up in NV / N. CA before heading home for Christmas!
